If you wish to be in the May 10th tournament please reply to this topic. Guaranteed 3 games. All games are in Bowmanville. Please only respond if you are for sure in. Last year we had 2 teams back out last minute and it really affected the tournament negatively for some teams.

There are a few options in regards to the location of the tournament. Front runners at the moment are Bowmanville High School or Clarington Central Secondary. A few others are in mind for a back up, but are all located within the vast Metropolis of Bowmanville.

Also, the charity which has been selected is the Weekend To End Breast Cancer. My sister, cousin and I are participating in the 60km walk in September in honour of my aunt who survived breast cancer a few years ago. I believe cheques are still to be made to DUC who will then make a donation of all profit to the charity. We will confirm this next week.

Chris, it would be better if the cheques were just made directly to the charity and given to you. Also, some teams might wish to collect $5 per player and then make out a cheque for more than $50. For example, if a team had 15 players show up they would be donating $75. This is what Band on the run will be doing rather than dividing the $50 by 13 players and coming up with some rediculus number like $4.52 a person.

I think I can field a team but a few players want to know when it starts and when it ends before committing to anything.

Do all the teams need to be from DUC?

I might have some friends who would like to put in a team if the turn out is low.

I'm not sure about the legality of other teams entering, due to insurance reasons. MacLeod is likely better off answering that when he gets back tomorrow.

As for the start/end time, with it being a pre-season tournament and mother's day weekend, we were thinking of starting around 9:00am and wrapping up by 3:00pm with one hour long games. Of course this will depend on the number of teams, etc. but with multiple field we should be able to pull off some sort of a round robin with semi's and finals taking place at one location.

Maybe the games should be 45 minutes and then that allows for any over time last points and for teams to move to other fields and get ready to play their next game.
Last year the tournament was over by mid afternoon.

I've got 6 guys and 1 or 2 girls so far, any more room for us on your all-star team?

we currently have 3 full lines of guys... So i dont think there is room.
However if everyone shows up from your team to play, im sure there will be floaters looking for a team to play, or some people might switch from team to teams to help numbers.

Remember this is a fun chairty tourney.. so all DUC members are welcome...

As for other random people playing in the tourney, that would be up to kevin to decide... Im assuming if they have a waiver signed they would be able to play.. Again thats kevin's call.. Hopefully he will post on tat tomorrow..

Just quickly...

Teams are doing a great job joining together. That's what it's all about. So here are a few quick things based on some of the past posts...

- The deadline to enter a team is tomorrow morning. I will create a schedule tomorrow night and post it for everyone's viewing pleasure Friday morning.
- We have the option of multiple fields. How many we use and where people end up depend on how many teams enter, etc.
- Game times will accomodate any travel time necessary. Likely hour long slots with 40-45 mintes of playing time.
- The plan is to have round robin games in pools so travel is minimized and back to back games are not located at different venues.
