First of all I don't actually play on a D team. I am just on that roster as I had to help them with some captain duties. I sometimes pop on and off teams so that I can fix things or do things that captains should have done. I just wanted to say that because I did not want anyone thinking I played on 3 teams.
Mike, I see you don't like my names of the divisions yet I don't see you suggesting anything better. Perhaps you would prefer orange and black?
There should be a good discussion at the meeting this coming Tuesday. There are many factors that will make it a complicated situation. The biggest factor that influences what we do is the fact that a lot of people want to play two games on Sunday. This alone is a huge difference between any other sports league out there. Perhaps we should look at running the A division on another night such as Monday or Thursday. This might allow the 'A' players to get their fix for competitive games over with and allow them to mentor on Sundays. Or maybe not. Actually I am kidding...I think.
The first thing we will want to establish on Tuesday is what the problems are and then decide if they can be fixed without causing other problems. I personally don't like creating a bunch of rules that can't be enforced.
I remember a few years ago when we all just wanted to play some ultimate and then go have a drink and some wings. I miss those days.
Perhaps our prizes are too good as it seems people are really eager to win them.
Keep the ideas coming, but try not to be jerks to each other. We all know that sometimes emails can be taken the wrong way. |

Early Bird (5pm) and Prime Time (7pm).
Clearly I didn't put a lot of thought into them. But I don't actually care what you call them. Could be 5pm and 7pm...clarity in simplicity.
I think before you look at the problems, you look at the goals. It might be that the problems aren't really problems as much as personal complaints when put in context of what the league is trying to achieve. Maybe bring some specific points that give practical meaning to the mission statement?

| Well, if the leagues are to be 'colours' then why not go Canadian and pick Red and White... or matinee and nightowl for early and late? Or go ultimate related dump and swing? |

| I don't think we will be able to have an early bird and a late time slot. We can only field 20 teams per time slot and I would expect that most teams would want the later time. We will discuss it at the meeting as this is just my opinion. I know a lot of people go away on weekends and the later game was always appealing to them. Its also cooler in the evening. |

| Can you do a quick vote on league forum to find that out? A poll of the captains is likely not a good sample, and this decision (assuming it isn't shelved) is likely important. |

Not everyone would like the late time slot... There are a lot of people with kids that would prefer getting home earlier. Just sayin.

| If you surveyed each team member on any specific team you would probably get a 50/50 split on the time slots. However, if the people on the team that want the 7 pm slot choose not to play at the 5 pm slot because they are cottagers and hate coming home then there is no team. Although I suppose some family people could choose not to play because the 7 pm is too late. So far the survey is quite close. |

Maybe I'm alone in this, but I play in B and I'm perfectly happy there. I don't want to move to A. I don't play in B because I am looking for more experience or mentoring, I play there because that's where my friends are and that's where I think my skill level fits the best. I think this is likely true for a lot of non-A players in the B Division. A Divison is not the holy grail of ultimate, and I think its silly to assume that anyone who is in B division is only in B until they can work their way into A. |
